Merger of Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust

Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust are proposing to merge.

Consistent with its draft interim merger guidelines, the CCP will examine the costs and benefits of the proposed merger of these mental health trusts to patients and taxpayers, in order to ascertain whether the transaction is consistent with Principles 9 and 10 of the Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition.* In doing so, the CCP will consider the effect of the transaction on patient choice and competition for mental health services in: Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, Suffolk or a wider area.

The CCP welcomes submissions in writing from interested individuals and organisations on this issue or any other matter relevant to the CCP's assessment of this transaction under the Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition. To submit evidence please use the email address: cases@ccpanel.gsi.gov.uk.

The closing date for submissions is 11 October 2010.

* From 1 October 2010 the revised Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition will apply. However, we will consider this application for CCP review under the version of the Principles and Rules valid on the date of the Notice of Acceptance for this case.
